Remembering John P. Lauer

“It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.” – unknown

We are profoundly saddened by the death of John Lauer, our long-time partner and friend. John passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2018.
It has been said that John was “larger than life”, a big personality in so many ways. He was big on fun, big on taking care of our clients, big on golfing, big on community involvement, big on making a difference. But mostly he was big on family—both at home and at work.

His laughter and corny jokes will always be remembered – the time that he pinned a law to his jacket on Halloween and said he was dressed up as a lawsuit, frequenting the candy bowl where he liked to find his favorites – dark chocolate Hershey bars and the ever elusive banana lollipops and trying to convince the unsuspecting to “pull his finger”. But even more importantly, we will remember the lessons he taught us through example about being a truly good person.

One of John’s favorite books was ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ by Stephen Covey. He was always trying to get us to read it. The following is highlighted and starred in John’s copy of the book. “If you carefully consider what you wanted to be said of you in the funeral experience, you will find your definition of success.” In any sense of the word, John’s life was a success.

He has left behind big shoes to fill, but also prepared us to do so. We are grateful for the time we had with John and will miss him greatly.
